Further adventures in Sydney & Adelaide

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

Wedenesday evening was spent at the Lord Nelson brewpub (http://www.lordnelsonbrewery.com/) - great place, and some fairly decent beer, albeit all keg as usual:

Spot the theme. Our favourite was Three Sheets, described as an Australian Pale Ale.

We moved through to Adelaide on Thursday to meet our daughter. We're staying in the Glenelg, a beachside suburb of the city and we strolled up the main street to find a pizza cafe for a quick bite and drink. I checked out the beer list - about 10 different names on it - but noticed two of them were described as "draught" - OK, we'll have one each of these then please, and the following arrived:

Obviously a bit of local language difficulty - why "draught" in bottles? - a mystery still to be explained to me.

Last night (Friday) we discovered a local microbrewery at the Holdfast Hotel (http://www.holdfasthotel.com.au/) so we thought it might be worth a visit. They had 2 taps serving their own beer - one ("The Dark 1") was off, leaving just Dominator, a wheat beer, for us to try. As wheat beers go, it was OK, but I wouldn't make a special effort to go there again.

Today (Saturday), we're taking a drive up to Barossa country - some wineries obviously, but there's a couple of small breweries up there and we might get a chance to check one of them out. One of them (http://www.barossabrewingcompany.com/) is in a place called Greenock - hope it's a bit prettier than the original! There's another wine area called Rutherglen, in which the other microbrewery (Barossa Valley) is located, so there's obviously a strong link to the home land here.
