Sugar in beer

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

When I was in Tarland last night doing the pub surveys, when chatting to the owner of the Commercial Hotel, she showed me an article that was in yesterday's Daily Mail (not a paper I read, I hasten to add):

Apologies about the article appearing sideways, but you can also view it here - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2551957/Nine-teaspoons-sugar-just-pint-real-ale-The-hidden-amounts-contained-alcoholic-drinks.html

This is completely contrary to a report that appeared recently in the Times which indicated that beer had the lowest sugar content of all the alcoholic drinks, with white wine the worst offender.

Now I'm really confused.
