Buchanan's Nano Brewery

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

Tried to find out a bit more about the nano brewery at Buchanan's at Woodend Barn. Apparently the beers are brewed by the chef (Calum) - with help from somebody else apparently - in the kitchen, which is certainly large enough to accommodate activities other than just the few meals they have on the menu.

I peeked in to the kitchen but didn't notice any specific brewing equipment. They do sell the products to take away - although at the same £4.50 per bottle. The labels don't give much away in terms of ingredients:

As I don't often get time to visit some of the potential GBG haunts in Aberdeen, after the GBG/PotY selection meeting on Saturday, Jas and I popped in to Six Degrees North. The blackboard menu is above and behind you - hard to spot at first - and it's so busy it's difficult for Seniors like us to make out the cask ales when you first go in:

The hand pumps give no clue either, and the look of disdain from the barmaid when we asked what the cask ales were didn't help. I appreciate a couple of old wrinklies like us are not exactly the target market for these types of establishment, but any chance of a bit more signage for the cask ales for us old fogeys, Robert?

To close, one of the many articles in the press on CAMRA's national pub of the year:

I liked the idea of the publican talking to his beers in the morning.
