Branch meeting in Deeside

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

The branch meeting on Saturday was scheduled to be held in Ballater, but there was a quick pit stop in Banchory first of all to make the annual presentation to the Legion's Ravenswood Club for Club of the Year. Helge took the official photos as Ian Chapman, Jas Bhagrath and I presented barmaid Trish with the local certificate and last year's slightly belated national one. There isn't much more room on the wall beside the bar for many more certificates!

There was time for a quick pint of Tribute outside afterwards:

There were some bus delays but most of us made it down to Ballater in time for the 2pm start. The Alexandra couldn't accommodate us, so we held the meeting in the Glenaden, where 2 Windswept beers were on - APA and Wolf - this was the first time I had ever seen Windswept beers on Deeside.

This was Helge's (almost) swansong and he is now beginning the process of handing over the many duties he has been carrying out for the local branch. We wish him well in his new life in Cambridge - and he'll keep in touch of course.

After the meeting was over, we popped across to the Balmoral, where, to my surprise, they had a cask of Macbeth on - it's not often been seen locally recently, particularly with the brewery being so busy with Deeside Lager - and their recent move to new premises.

We managed a pint of Trade Winds in the Alexandra before most of us caught the 6:35 pm bus back.

In other news, recent press articles included the re-launch of a very old brand in London:

The business pages carried a feature on international brewing giant SAB Miller's Chief Executive, in the course of which he made some interesting comments about craft beer:

Mmmmm......
