Beer news from Deeside

It was Banchory's inaugural "River Festival" this weekend and one of the events being held was a beer tasting on Saturday night in Sandy's Deeside Drinks Emporium. Of course, we went along out of interest and found out that it was being presented by none other than Tim Heighton-Jackson, formerly of Deeside Brewery.

Tim is now doing his own thing and is trying to establish a niche, low-volume brewery, with a sideline of running brewery courses and brew your own beer gifts. He still brews occasional batches for Deeside Brewery on a contract basis, but is no longer employed there. His new operation is tentatively titled Patterd 'Ales, with a doggy theme:



 On Saturday, Tim was doing a "compare and contrast" of 4 of his bottle conditioned brews with their pasteurised commercial equivalents from Deeside Brewery. They included IPA's with English and American hops and a stout, all of them over 5% abv. Here he is in action, with Guy from Deeside Drinks Emporium in the background:
