From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

I've been round a few local establishments since we got back from vacation - but, strangely, not the Legion (where this Saturday's CAMRA branch meeting is being held) as yet.

Banchory Golf Club have a new Bar Steward(ess) and the recent selection of ales has been a bit more interesting than those experienced earlier in the season. Last week, it was Moorhouse's Honey and Bateman's Summer Swallow.

I thought I'd try the Burnett on Friday night - with two ales on all the time now, there's always a better chance of getting at least one decent pint - but I'm afraid it wasn't to be. Both the house special - the Burnett - and Deuchar's, were sour, and so we left and crossed the road to the Douglas Arms, where Deuchar's, Texas and Abbott were all on.

One of my 2 recent visits to the Learney Arms was unsuccessful - the ale had run out - but second time around we got a nice pint of Bitter & Twisted - although, like everything else it seems, it's not what it used to be - or is it just my imagination?

I also had another 2 disappointing trips to the Boat Inn, Aboyne. It seems they are permanently down to just 2 ales nowadays - the 3rd handpump lies dormant - but they did have a Deeside beer back on this week - Macbeth - but it was served so cold it was hard to tell what it was. Trade Winds seems to be an almost permanent fixture here now. The Boat Inn is up for sale again now - it'll be interesting to see how long it remains on the market this time.

The Potarch Hotel has been very consistent recently in both ale selection - Trade Winds - and quality - excellent.

We were staying over in Grantown on Sunday. The Grant Arms had its usual Trade Winds on, as did the Ben Mhor - although they also had a tasty Wildcat on.

Hopefully see some of you on Saturday at the Legion - not sure I can guarantee we will be sitting outdoors again - as we have done on the last 3 visits to Banchory - but fingers crossed - you never know.

Here's our last 3 trips to the Legion - 2006, 2008 & 2009:

I also recall another branch meeting held on the decking at the rear of the Douglas Arms - perhaps 2007?
