Macbethfest

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

It was another successful brewfest at Dess last night - it has a certain charm about it - nice setting and no queues to get beer, but enough people there to provide an atmosphere.

Rob had laid on a free bus to and from Aberdeen again but it was less than half full on the way out and only a handful of the CAMRA regulars were on board. There were a few more bodies on the return journey but there was still plenty of room. I wonder how much Rob collected from the basket for donations towards the cost of the bus? Not much, I suspect - a lot of people didn't even notice it.

This year it was roast beef and burgers on the BBQ in place of last year's whole pig, and Ken Howie himself was our BBQ chef. Beer has a wonderful way of making you hungry and Ken did a roaring trade.

There were 16 beers available from 4 different breweries - Deeside of course (7), Tryst (4), Angus (3) and the rather quirky and distinctly individual Fyfe (2). I found the latter's First Lyte totally undrinkable - and it appears I wasn't alone - Rob stopped serving it after a while. The programme/list of ales is a direct lift from the Aberdeen festival (copyright RA Jones) - on a reduced scale of course:

My favourites were Nechtan (of course), Talorcan and RAJ IPA from Tryst, with the latter also getting thumbs up in a quick, slightly drunken, straw poll of the CAMRA members at the end of the evening.

To demonstrate the ease of getting served, here's the 2 bays:

Recognise anyone here?:

A few shots of the Banchory crowd:

and the final one of Jo and I earlier on in the evening before the sun (and the temperature) went down:

Great evening and hopefully a fixture on the calendar now - perhaps a few more might come out from Aberdeen next year?
