Australia - part II

I tell myself that one of the reasons for writing this blog is to remind me of what we've done, where we've been - and where we haven't been - for future reference.

Definitely on the to do list for next year is a visit to Brew Boys (http://www.brewboys.com.au/) in Adelaide - they've just opened a new Tasting Room, but we ran out of time and didn't make it along this time. Another one that we didn't make it to this time is http://www.steamexchange.com.au/ down south in Goolwa, but we have at least been there once before.

In the second half of our vacation, we took return trips to Barossa Valley Brewing (http://www.bvbeer.com.au/) and Barossa Brewing Company - not to be confused with each other. The former is a well-established place we've been to several times before - lovely place and nice beers, but pretty awful service and admin - whilst the latter has only recently been re-launched in Greenock after years of being slowly run down by the previous owner, shown here with the new owners in the brewery:

Down south in McLaren Vale - Shiraz country - we also went back to Goodieson Brewery (https://www.goodiesonbrewery.com.au/) where we had a good chat with the owner/brewer (featured on the front page of their web site):

That was about it for breweries, new and old, but there are some interesting outlets that might be worth a return visit next year, the newest of which is http://www.sweetamber.com.au/, conveniently placed in Semaphore, just a short walk from our daughter's house. They promote all the local small breweries and have a cool little beer garden:

One Sunday, they had a Beer Garden takeover by the nearby new Big Shed Brewery (http://bigshedbrewery.co.uk/) when they were holding a brewing demonstration. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it that day.

Another good outlet in North Adelaide was the Royal Oak (http://www.royaloakhotel.com.au/) who have a good selection of "craft" beers - or should we start calling them "indie" beers now that all the majors are in on the act? Whilst we're on the subject, can I have a moan about a lot of the guys working in these indie/craft breweries? There's a definite stereotype - hipster brewers - you know the uniform - beard, cardigan, low-cut trousers etc? Spare me.

We paid return visits to:
That's about it - until next year.
