Real Ale again!

After a month in USA, it's been a delight to taste real cask ale again, something we never managed at all this year across the pond. The nearest we came was in Portland where the Laurelwood (http://laurelwoodbrewpub.com/) had a handpump on - but the beer was finished! Just our luck. I spoke to one of the barmen and apparently they only sell about one small cask every few weeks.

Anyway, Banchory Golf Club has been featuring Theakston's very peculiar blueberry infused Grouse Beater, Young's Waggle Dance and Thwaites Wainwright this week, whilst the Douglas has the Celt Experience's (http://celtexperience.com/Silures plus Red MacGregor and the usual Trade Winds on.

Down in St. Andrews for a day on Friday, we visited the Whey Pat, whose house beer is produced by what used to be called Traditional Scottish Ales - now renamed Black Wolf Brewery (http://blackwolfbrewery.com/) for some reason. They also featured that brewery's Gold Digger Blonde Beer plus Broughton's No. 5 IPA and Old Speckled Hen.
