London trip

Great to revisit some old haunts in London last weekend. Some had changed a bit - not surprising after 40 years - but many were reassuringly constant. First pit stop was the Guinea Grill (http://www.theguinea.co.uk/) in Bruton Place, just off Berkeley Square - A Young's pub with an upmarket restaurant at the back, but we went for the traditional steak and kidney pies in the pub.

We walked from there to Covent Garden and checked out the the relatively new Craft Beer Company outlet near there. Great selection of ales - the Ilkley ones were particularly good.

Our hotel (the St. Pancras) had a house bottled beer - from Oldenshaw of Grantham - which we slurped down quickly before rushing off to our gig in Shepherd's Bush.

On Saturday we went up to lively Camden Lock and had a couple of pints, sitting outside in the warm sunshine, next to the canal. It was a Wetherspoon's outlet - the Ice Wharf:

We were going to the Piccadilly Theatre in the evening and handily adjacent was the Queen's Head, which displayed this sign upstairs:

Great beer too - especially Dark Star's Hophead.

On Sunday we stopped off at the Audley in the West End - the Wherry was nice:

Then it was on to Shepherd Market and Ye Grapes - good beers and Thai food in a lovely part of Mayfair.
