Hexham

On a weekend golf trip to Slaley Hall, we were pleased to find they had ale on again - Pedigree. Still felt the need to briefly escape the resort on Sunday afternoon, so Jas and I headed for the nearby Traveler's Rest (http://travellersrestslaley.co.uk/), normally a nice quiet country pub with good ale and a pleasant grassy beer garden. However, on this occasion, the beer garden was completely filled up by a kids' giant bouncy castle, so we decided it was best to give it a body swerve this time and headed instead to Hexham, where we found the Tap & Spile.

Small yard outside, normally used by smokers, but thankfully not on this occasion, was ideal for roast beef and roast tatties lunch while watching Wimbledon. Cracking little pub - and some interesting signs outside:
