Brodie, Nairn & Findhorn

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

We had originally intended to travel to Nairn for the middle weekend of the beer festival at the Braeval, but had to make a late change to this weekend. As it happened, it gave us the chance to meet up with Helge, George and Colin, who were CAMRA's representatives presenting what used to be called, in pre PC days, the Teuchter Pub of the Year to the Old Mill Inn, Brodie.

First time I'd been in there - nice place - and the Scottish Tapas are highly recommended - as is the beer:

Colin made the formal presentation and gave a nice little speech (which George video'd) and Helge took the official photos. Jo and I acted as CAMRA's rent-a-mob as we all posed behind the bar afterwards:

and don't anyone call George a Raspberry Fool!

I was driving and I'd had my quota by now, so we left the others behind and headed off to the Bandstand Beer Festival - or what was left of it. There were still 20-odd beers left in the marquee when we arrived, plus the usual 9 in the main bar, so the choice was still pretty reasonable, given that there was only one day of the festival left. Here's the full programme of what had been available:

A quick left turn on the way home on Sunday took us in to Findhorn and the Kimberley Inn. Fine pint of Corncrake - and excellent chowder. The adjacent Crown & Anchor was advertising Timothy Taylor's and Flying Scotsman - but we didn't venture in.
