Deeside Brewery Ltd.

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

I visited the brewery this morning to meet the new owner, Mike Bain, who, as well as owning Escape IT, also has the Dusk Bar (formerly Betty Burke's). Also present was new Head Brewer, Tim Hieghton-Jackson, who has been tutored by Rob James, acting as Technical Consultant.

A new company has been set up - Deeside Brewery Ltd. - to acquire the assets of the business, and the full range of beers is being reviewed, with new images for the brewery and pump clips, some of them already featuring on the web site.

Fresh investment is being put in to expand capacity and the brewery appears to be moving in the same general direction as Brewdog, with keg production and bottling being seen as the main expansion areas, although cask production will continue, mainly for local markets.

Here's Tim and Mike in the brewery this morning:

They've invited the local members to come down to the brewery to meet them some time in the near future at a mutually convenient date.

Plans are well under way for this year's Deeside Beer Festival, which is being moved away from Deeside Activity Park to Potarch, where a large marquee will be erected in July, with a top comedy act already booked and live music to be added. I understand free camping will also be available and the whole event is being run for charity.

A second hand pump has just been added at the Potarch Hotel and it currently features Deeside's newest brand, Abhainn, which I'm reliably informed means "river" in Gaelic. It is described as an "Intensely Fruity Pale Ale". I found it left a very dry, bitter aftertaste:
