More ale tales from Down Under and the Far East

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

Our trip is all but over now and I've been surprised how easy it has been to get a decent choice of beers - although nothing cask conditioned. On our return to Sydney for a few days, we discovered the Pump House in Darling Harbour - apparently it's connected to a microbrewery, although brewing is not done at the Darling Harbour outlet. It's also got a tremendous range of bottled beers from all round the world - including 4 from Brewdog, which are apparently selling well here.

We stopped off at Singapore on the way home and were staying next to Clarke Quay, which seems to be the centre of the social scene here. On our first day, we came across The Pump Room microbrewery, and adjacent to it is the Highlander shop, stocking a range of "Fine Beers, Rare Whiskies, Scottish Food". They had 7 of their beers on - the usual range - and we did the sampler tray again before selecting our beers - their IPA suited my palate.

Later on, immediately across the Singapore river from the Pump Room, we spotted Brewerkz (http://www.brewerkz.com/index.htm), a huge brewpub - possibly one of the biggest I've ever seen. Their sampler tray consisted of as many as 12 different brews - probably too many if truth be told. I rather liked their newest brew which was called Black Rabbit and was a hefty 7.0%, described as a "Hoppy Wheat Beer" with "Cloves and Banana Notes":

Golden Ale; Honey Fruitbrewz; Hopback Ale; American Brown Ale; Pilsner; Steam Beer; Wheat Beer; Darkside Lager; India Pale Ale; Oatmeal Stout; Xtra IPA; Black Rabbit.
