Banchory pubs and beers

From http://iansaleadventures.blogspot.com/

Beers at Banchory golf club this weekend were Elgood's Summer Sun and Bateman's Thirsty Work - another two in the seemingly endless stream of light summer ales - excellent for light lunchtime quaffing, but lacking a little in bite - roll on autumn! Anyone else ready for a change in the seasonal beers?

The Legion had Adnam's Bitter (also on at the golf club last week) and Cain's IPA.

After speaking to Rob James last week, I decided it was time to give the Burnett Arms another try. Rob has arranged for another handpump and new piping to be installed, hoping that this would improve the beer quality served there, which had been a bit suspect for a while. Judging by the couple of pints we had last night, it seems to be working - the Macbeth was excellent - just the way I remembered it, but it had been a while since I'd had a really good pint there.

It also means the Burnett Arms now has 2 handpumps on - the old one has been moved slightly to the side and is now dispensing Deuchar's. It'll be interesting to see whether they can manage to keep 2 ales on there.

Incidentally, the Macbeth costs just £2.60 per pint in the Burnett - the cheapest real ale in Banchory - even undercutting the Legion and golf club - and miles cheaper than the Douglas or the Tor-na-Coille.
